Tips for the outdated REALTOR!

So you have been in the business for 25 years, you are great at what you do, not one REALTOR  in your area gets a client a better deal than you, all very commendable, however, we are in new times! We make deals happen in half the time, everyone needs an immediate response and our clients like UPDATES! Our clients also deploy, sometimes they buy homes without seeing them, and that would not be possible without the technology our team uses to simplify the process. If you want to make it a pleasant experience for not just your client, but the other realtor and all those involved in the purchase of a home, here are 5 things that can help.

1. DotLoop

Dotloop provides a cloud-based service where agents, buyers and sellers can all view, change and sign documents online, instead of printing, signing and faxing them back and forth. You can get a whole contract ratified without ever leaving your house or office. The convenience of DotLoop is priceless!

2. Use a Smart Phone

You might be able to call people from that old flip phone you have, but most people don’t want to receive a phone call after working hours. A text is a lot less invasive, and other agents like you are busy people. Texting they can continue to do what they are doing and answer your questions and concerns. A smart phone will also allow for you to take quick pictures of the properties you will be listing, even if a photographer will be coming soon, the need for them now is priority.

3. Dropbox

Your files will never again be left on your desk or computer! This cloud-based program can be accessed online from anywhere (hint: even your smart phone) and make your documents accessible from anywhere you are. This way if your client or other realtor asks about a certain date or needs documents you are never a minute behind!

4. Ditch your fax!

Faxes destroy the quality of documents. You can now link a “FAX” number to an email, so even when someone is still using a fax you don’t have to! Let’s speak truth, email is way more efficient than standing by that old problematic fax machine. So ditch it! Get a scanner and email account and don’t look back!

5.  Marketing!

Market yourself where the young people meander! Facebook, Trulia, Zillow, Yahoo Homes, Craigslist…the possibilities are endless! This one we could never emphasize enough, without marketing you will not get any business; referrals can only get you so far in a business where everyone knows somebody. Just keep in mind what you are not doing someone out there is, so get out there and show your face!
